Top Top is a British fashion brand specialising in comfortable casual clothing. We create easy-to-wear pieces – high quality tshirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies for men and women.
We started our company for one reason: Our love for sustainable fashion sustains us.
Our journey began in March of 2019 when we set out to outfit anyone looking for sustainable and long-lasting style. It was a trek toward flexibility and top-of-the-line materials. But our mission wasn’t just about looking good; it was about doing better. We wanted to respect the Earth, maintain ethical production practices, and put the customer first.
With all of this in mind, we grabbed our sketchbooks and continued onward.
We already had a background in fashion, but we wanted to lay a strong foundation and getting it right meant gaining a new perspective. We went back to the drawing board, putting ourselves in our customers’ shoes and embracing new ideas and concepts with an open mind. We went back to school, spoke to experts, read widely, and collaborated with consumers.
Through summer of 2019, we conducted extensive research on suppliers to assure we found companies that shared our values. We contacted people in the UK as well as those across the globe, from Australia to India, from Vietnam to Bangladesh. We visited factories to explore their practices first-hand and assure that we shared an ethical commitment.
After our due diligence, we opted to work within the Global Organic Textile Standard. They’re an organisation that certifies and audits factories each year to assure compliance with fair treatment, fair wages, and the use of organic fabric.
In keeping with our dedication to the planet, we also chose to work with recycled materials.
In September of 2019, we decided to focus on black and white clothing, reasoning that simple fashion makes a powerful statement. This decision would come to define our company and the minimalistic designs for which we are known.
In October of 2019, we began an intensive sampling process. We focused on quality above all and paid attention to little things: Details, details, details. We considered how tiny differences can change look and feel. We noticed neck collars, talked about texture, studied seam lines, and figured out fabric weight.
On December 23, 2019, we launched what would become our signature look – Top Top Black & White. This is a line of black and white tops that focuses on simplicity and versatility. It goes with everything and works on everyone.
Just like our clothes, we proved enduring as well, navigating through the Coronavirus with the support of our customers. We learned a lot during this time and we came away with a greater sense of purpose. The global pandemic reinforced the promise in practicality, the importance of sustainability, and the need for all of us to work together to uphold morals and eco-friendly practices in commerce.
As our brand evolves, our philosophy of honesty, diversity, and respect remains unchanged. We continue to strive for zero waste where possible and we continue providing our services through a customer-centric model.
We will always be passionate about sustainability in fashion and we will always take pride in providing customers with choices that allow them (and us) to contribute to a greener future.
